Default 629-2 looks much better now

I got some new grips for my 629-2 to replace the kind of weird looking grips it came with. Looks much better now...

Original grips...

I like the originals. I'd cut them even with the bottom of the grip frame and live happily ever after.

I also have a 629-2 (Mountain Lion) and I notice that the cylinder stop notches on your cylinder are longer than those on mine. Would this not be indicative of two different model variations? I thought that's what the dash versions are all about.

I have those grips. They look nice but stink for shooting magnum loads . They hurt my hand so bad after 50 rounds I had to stop shooting altogether for 4 weeks till my hand stop hurting . Almost gave in about seeing a doc. I switched to Bear Hug grips and never had a problem again .
Again this was my experience with them, yours might be better .

Yeah, for range shooting, I usually switch to rubber Hogues!

Yes it looks MUCH better. Always better IMHO to have FACTORY grips on a S&W. There are so many aftermarket grips out there that look SO funky!! Also, since you have the longer stop notches in your cylinder, it must mean that you have the Endurance package...could your gun be a 629-2E? (E for Endurance).

Not to hijack, but wasn't the endurance package transition on the 629-3's?

No, there were some models marked "629-2E" that were the beginning of the Endurance pkg upgrades, prior to the 629-3.

I don't see any indication of an E model anywhere. It just says M629-2 under the crane.
