Yup they are for real but are not known for responsiveness. Your best bet would be to order from someone that has them in stock. There are a couple places that stock them. (Chime in with the links guys).
I don't think they'd rip you off if you sent them money but from what I've read it could be a while before they ship due to their mfg. schedule.

I used to order from the old company when I managed a gun store back in '88-'90. Things went smoothly. I did not have an especially good experience trying to order from this iteration of the company a few years back - they eventually got me my stuff, but it was a real hassle with many missed deadlines and unreturned phone calls. I hope things work out for them, but it's not looking like things are getting better, judging from the fact that posts like yours continue to go up on the web.

It is an all too common situation these days. The old man thet founded the company and ran it well for years has died. The company was sold or is being run by inexperienced relatives now, and the service end of the business is now non-existent.
Send your money and you may get the product in 6 weeks, or 6 months, or never. If the entity declares bankruptcy (very probable in poorly run companies these days) your money is gone, and you will never see it or the product.
I have checked numerous dealers, all are completely out of stock (that I can find).

It took 18 weeks to get the one I ordered. Good product, but killer wait time. The only way I knew that my order had been received was that the check I sent them had been cashed.

Got lucky. Mine came in only 4 months. Somebody in China ought to start making them. I'm sure they could do a lot better. Thought I wanted a couple more of them, but not...

2 words...used market. They're still out there and people are still selling them in the classified sections of many gun forums. Just have to do a little "leg work".

from: Tyler Manufacturing and Distribution Company, Inc
ATTENTION CUSTOMERS:
------------------------------------------------
November Update:
To begin, thank you to everyone who has expressed concern for our Dad, Bryan. After the heart attack he had in September, he is doing much better and his incisions are healed. He is enjoying his recliner much more these days. God love him, he really had a close one. We are so thankful to still have him.
Due to the back log of orders, we have temporarily suspended the phone lines so we can use all available staff to prepare orders for shipment. We have gotten almost 90% of the T-Grip back orders completed (over 2,500 orders, thank Mark for saving the day) we have shipped many already and are preparing several hundred polished pieces and getting them ready for shipment as well. Please be a little more patient while we work through this polishing and shipping stage. After going through all of Dad's paperwork, we found some very old orders, those of course, have been completed first. It looks like it will take a few more weeks for us to get back on track and current with the orders still coming in.
As far as trigger shoe orders go, we are working on August and September orders right now. These pieces are a little more detailed than the T-Grips, so they take more time to produce. We request that no more trigger shoe orders be placed until mid December to give us a chance to finish the back orders we have. We don't have as many skilled workers for the Trigger Shoes right now, although we are interviewing.
Please understand that we all have other jobs and are working as fast and as much as we can to get everyone's order out. We will most likely re-open the phone lines in about 10 days, during the afternoons. Thanks again for your patients, we are getting there.
Remember, you don't need an invoice number to order, just write down what you want and send it in.

2500 orders at avg price $28 = $ 70,000
would definitely be a good addition to someones product line

Do what I did.Put a WTB in the forums and you will have a response very quickly.Have them on both my Detective Specials and my 640.They only cost me 28 and 32 dollars respectively and you don't have to deal with the nonsense.....Mike

I'll pay up to 2x the price...watch, they're going to end up going out of business and the only authentic T-grips will start commanding even higher prices than they do now. Plus, "2-5x" is a bit of an exaggeration. There was a guy a few days ago that sold 2 NIB 3R Tyler T's for $45 each. I've paid up to $60 for one before though, and I didn't mind doing so. The used market really is your best bet...I mean, where else are you going to get them from??

I've seen the auctions....but "run their mouth"? Are you serious right now? That was a pretty snide remark when I'm just taking part in a civil discussion in an open forum. People pay ridiculous prices on eBay, yes...but I was just stating the fact that one need not literally pay 2-5x the price of a new one for a used one. I just bought an original labled polished 3R in great condition from a member here for $40...that's hardly 2-5x. Like I said, it was a bit of an exaggeration is all. I didn't mean it in a rude or condescending way. You could use a little lesson in tact, buddy.

You guy's just ain't livin' right. I placed an order by mail on 10/22/10. Order was shipped on 11/2/10. Now I did order bronze and was shipped aluminum and can't get them on the phone, but these work fine and I thought that was pretty good from a bunch of part timers.

From their webpage:
7:
For Colt, old model made before 1941, Police Positive, Police Positive Special, Detective Special, this model has a very narrow butt, narrow between trigger guard and butt stock, Grips are 1 1/2" at bottom width.

Bob: Thanks a lot. You know I tried to bring up their web page in every way that I could imagine and never could. I will put this particular Tyler T grip up for sale in the WTS thread. ........ Big Cholla

Just my two cents here, but I would not order from this company. As I've posted here and on other boards: I sent in my order to Tyler in Oct. 2010. My check was deposited and cleard within a week. No product was ever sent to me. In January 2011, I sent a certified letter to Tyler Mfg. with a copy of my order and cancelled check asking them if they somehow lost my order etc. No answer was ever given me.
Now their website is advertising a "move" to a new facility and optimistic language about orders.
However, I still have not received my order nor have others you can read about on the various firearm boards.
I have now filed a complaint with the USPS for Postal fraud as recommended by the Oklahoma Attorney General's office.
I don't expect to ever see my $68 again, or any T-grips for that matter. The people running the company are thieves without honor.
