** Both guns are sold. Thanks. **
I have the following Smith and Wesson revolvers for sale. Each gun will ship via USPS Priority Mail with insurance and delivery confirmation to your dealer from my FFL. There will be a copy of my dealer's license in the package. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Item #1 is a five screw pre-Model 29 .44 Magnum revolver (serial number S16092x) with a six and 1/2 inch barrel and six groove backstrap that shipped from the factory in May of 1956. The gun is in 96% condition with slight wear at the high points of the frame and cylinder and some wear on the bottom of the trigger guard. The one small distraction on the gun is a small spot behind the cylinder release that looks like a flaw in the original blue. This spot is a small circle with three circles around it (like a bulls eye) and is less than 1/8th of an inch in diameter. The gun comes in the original pebble grain presentation case that is in fair, but the top of the case had some adhesive material attached to it. No tools or documents are included. All numbers match and the serial number of the gun is written in white grease pencil on the bottom of the case and clearly visible. There are no marks under the grips that indicate a trip back to the factory. The Coke grips are in very good condition. Overall this is a beautiful early .44 Magnum, certainly one of the first 482 (based on the production log from 1956). The price is $1,995 shipped.
Item #2 is a Smith and Wesson .44 Magnum, pre-model 29 with a four screw frame that shipped from the factory in January 1958 according to Roy. This is a blue four inch gun in 97-98% condition... with two minor issues. First, there is a scratch on the right side of the gun, on the frame, under the cylinder. It is about 1 inch in length and not very deep. Second, for some reason unknown to me, the grips were "adjusted" to fit the frame of this gun. Not certain why this was done, but you can see from the picture below that some type of filler was used to make the grips nice and tight. I have tried other grips including factory Cokes and they fit the gun, so no idea as to why this was done to these grips. But, the grips are beautiful with only slight indications of wear and gentle use. I was told that the seller was the son of the original owner and he only shot this gun occasionally and then it went back into the safe. If I did not tell you about the grips, you would never know until you pulled them off. The gun has no marks on the grips to indicate a trip back to the factory, so everything appears to be original. No box, tools, etc. Just a nice four screw gun with Cokes. The price is $1395 shipped.
