Default 686 mountain gun conversion

A few months ago I bought a used 686 on the internet(no pre purchas inspection)and when I recieved it I noticed a problem with push off.I think I'll end up sending it to the factory to be fixed and got to thinking, what are the chances a mountain gun barrel for a -6 can be fitted to a -3 gun?
