Default Warranty question?

I bought my 15 22 last March 2010. No real issues to date, have only been able to put 1,000 rounds or so thru it. 1 or 2 FTE, but nothing major. With the 1 year warranty, and having the old silver spring (DTX), do I send it back now and ask this be replaced, or will they replace it if it happens over the summer and out of warranty?

Why don't you give S&W Customer Service a call, tell them about your FTE's and your non-blue spring? If they want you to send it in, they will e-mail you a pre-paid mailing label to use in returning your gun. Let them make the call and you won't have to be concerned about the warranty period.

I sent them an email voicing my concerns. Asked if they wanted me to send it back or will they warranty past expiration date if I have problems.

I thought all S & W's have a life-time warranty?

I thought so too, but was reading on a Sig forum where someone was asking which to buy Sig or the 15 22. One response was the MP 15 22 was a great rifle with a one year warranty. Went to their site and downloaded the warranty and yes it said 1 year limited warranty. From all the reading I've done on this site, I have never seen anyone say S&W would not repair their rifle because it was out of warranty, but maybe all that send it in are still within the one year. If it is a lifetime warranty I'm happy to keep it and when/if it breaks send it back.

I would want the upgraded blue springs, they will exchange your mags too !!! for the ones that says 25rd on the side of them.

I think S&W needed to recall the non blue springs ones. JMHO

This is straight out of the 15-22 manual. It is about a page after the one year warranty section. And I understand that they don't pay much attention to the card within 30 days requirement.
Smith & Wesson’s Lifetime Service Policy begins after the warranty
period has expired. Smith & Wesson will repair, without
charge, for the lifetime of the original owner, any Smith & Wesson
handgun purchased on or after February 1, 1989, and any
M&P15 series rifle, that is found to have a defect in material or
workmanship. Eligibility for this Lifetime Service Policy requires
returning the Product Registration Card within 30 days of purchase.
The Lifetime Service Policy covers functional defects; it
does not include the firearm’s finish, grips, magazines or sights.
The Lifetime Service Policy is in addition to and not an extension

of the Smith & Wesson Warranty.

If I were you I'd be less concerned with the blue springs and more concerned with the fact that you've had the gun for just shy of a year and only put 1000 rounds through it .

Thanks, I will look in my files to see if/when I sent in the card. I did register it online some time back.

If this were the only gun I owned it would be a concern. I do shoot others as well and overall shoot over 4,000 rounds last year between pistol and rifle.
