Washer inside flash suppressor?
I removed my flash suppressor last night and a washer fell out. I didn't expect it to be in there so it just popped out, and consequently I didn't get to see how it fits. The washer has one beveled edge. I assume the bevel faces forward to self-center the washer, but can someone confirm?
Thanks,
Dan

If it is a crush washer the small end goes against the muzzle... but there is no need for a crush washer. Just lightly snug tighten.

There's a lock washer on the M16/AR15 flash suppressor or compensator. The original M16/M16A1's flash suppressors used a regular lock washer; the M16A2 uses a compensator that has to be indexed with the closed slot down and originally used a peel-washer. Literally peeled off layers like an onion to get the right height. The latest lock washer is a crush-washer and is tightened until the compensator is properly aligned.
Since the M&P15-22 uses the "A1-type" flash suppressor no indexing is required. I'd still use the washer, though I doubt the flash suppressor is going to come loose. You'll need it if you put the "A2-type" compensator on (common gun show part).

Did the washer fall out of the FH, off the back of the FH or off the threads of the muzzle? Pic please.

My mistake. It wasn't inside the suppressor, but was indeed the crush washer.

Question: I just received a AR-15 armorers tool and I noticed the A1flash suppressor on my MP15-22 is smaller than the A2 on my MP15. I always thought they were the same size!
