Default .32 Hand ejectors

Hello all,
I recently picked up a pair of beater S&W .32 Hand Ejectors at an auction for 73.50 each. I am a sucker for the .32 S&W Long,
its the best all around cartridge ever.

The top one SN 505XX, I believe its a 1903 First Change, the hammer doesn't rebound after the trigger is released.

and the bottom one SN 2273XX, which I believe to be a Third Model that the cylinder axis isn't quite parallel with the barrel, the gap widens and decreases as the cylinder rotates and the ejector rod is a tad bent.

I found ANTIQUE FIREARMS:Assembly and Disassembly by D. Chicoine, I have purchased it and it should be here in a few days that helps with the disassembly and cleaning of Third Model. Unfortunately, I cant find literature detailing the lockwork on the 1903 First Change anywhere.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on a fine pair. I can say that I have a 1903 2nd change and parts have been really difficult to find. I had to repair a broken extractor star myself because I couldn't find a replacement. It's my first .32 and I'll be shooting it for the first time this week.

Dave Chicone would be my recommendation for the drawings though and there are a couple of folks on the forum here that might have what you need.

Good luck...
Craig

I love 'em too. Some of the most enjoyable guns I own were those that needed work when I got them. The one with the tweeked frame or cylinder is not that duanting to fix. At the Smith gunsmith school students are provided a small lead hammer to fix a tweeked frame and crane. Dont be afraid to be a little aggressive and straighten her out. It's no more scientific than that.

Maybe Shoo-Boy needs to add a "lead head" for his cool hammers?

well
it looks like the trigger spring on the top one is worn smooth when there should be a little notch to catch the trigger to make it rebound, NUMRICH actually had one, so add $48 to the total cost. I took it apart and put it back together, a little daunting at first, so I did it a couple times to get the hang of it.

I had to take the bottom one to a gunsmith to have the rod/ yoke looked at. I couldnt find another rod anywhere if I broke it.
I'll probably have it back in like 2014, if he gets a round to it.
shoot early and shoot often
