I just bought a 642 no lock on bud's and I do remember seeing the 442 no lock on there also. They have both lock and no lock versions. If you can't locate it on the site just give them a call. And you'll be happy with your purchase - it's a great little gun at a great price!

They normally have both, SKU tells which is which. Best to just call them.

Default It's the lock version

I just purchased my 442 from Bud's. I thought I was buying a no lock version. I called to verify, but they said it had the lock. The lock is not a big deal to me so I went through with my purchase.

it means everything to me. I will not accept a transfer and will ship back if they send me a locked one. so am on the phone to verify. it says they have the NL in stock but calling to make sure. been on the phone 22 mins and still waiting. it's a great deal if I can get without lock. free shipping too.

well I was able to get through on phone and they do have the no-locks in stock.

so I go to place the order online but.........after hitting the "confirm order" button this popup appears prompting me to join this credit card protection service. I don't join those things so I look for the "no thanks" button and one does not exist. I can't get past this page and it won't process my order.

first time I called the recording said for faster service they request you use email. well fine and dandy but there is no link to any email addresses. even on the contact page it has 5 email options. I hit each one and nothing comes up.

I guess I will have to place this order over the phone first thing tomorrow morning?

does anyone know whats up with their online ordering site? this is pretty darn frustrating.

Don't know anything about their site, but do you have cookies turned on in your browser. Usually I get into those circular situations cause I block all cookies. I have had to go back into options to allow them for some sites.

Just a quick tip with Bud's website and many of the other gun sellers on the web:
type the SKU of the gun you want in the search box directly and you'll know right away.
Like that there will be no confusion because both the pictures and text descriptions can sometimes be inaccurate.

If you don't know the SKU of the gun you're looking for, just Google it first.

SKU 150544 is a no lock 442
SKU 103810 is a no lock 642
SKU 178041 is a no lock 442 PRO cut for moon clips
SKU 178042 is a no lock 642 PRO cut for moon clips

I recently bought a 442 Pro from them at a very reasonable price, but did not encounter your problem so I can't help with that.
Cheaper than dirt had them too for a couple of $ less at the time but were out of stock when I purchased mine.

70712 - S&W Model 442 Revolver .38 Special +P 1.875" Barrel 5 Rounds Synthetic Grips Matte Black Finish

You might want to try them in case you can't place you order with Bud's
Here's another cheap source for them, in stock at $355 shipped.

http://www.firearmsforyou.com/guns/s...8-1-7/8-nl-bl/

The link above is the cheapest I've seen them sell for anywhere on the internet.
I haven't done business with them myself but a member from a local forum got a 442 NL from them without any problem.

thanks for the info guys.

I got the correct sku number for the no-lock gun on the order. also called my bank and took care of the credit card deal. so was able to process and I got the gun for 375 delivered. I am feeling very good.

yesterday I completed my concealed carry class and just now applied online with DPS. monday morning I get fingerprinted.

it's gonna be great. will let you guys know how it goes when the gun comes in and the license.

mike

For the most part, if the second digit in the six digit SKU number of a regular production revolver is a 6, it has a lock. For example, with a 642, 163810 has a lock. 103810 does not have a lock.

This is not always the case, however. The 442 with a lock has SKU number 162810, while no lock versions have had SKU numbers of 102810 and 150544.
