Model 27 no dash
I saw a four screw Model 27 no dash at a gun show today. It had a 3 1/2" barrel and not-original, but very nice combat grips with medallions. The revolver has not been reblued and is about 90%.
The seller wanted $825, but came down to $800 without tax. I told him I would think about it, but now I'm wondering if I made a mistake. I might be able to go back tomorrow if people think I'm being foolish.
Any quick advice would be appreciated.

My quick advice is to wait. I think you can get a different 90% gun for less, or for the same money get a somewhat better specimen.

Without looking at it, that is high for 90%. $600-$650...especially since he does not have the original grips.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm glad my instincts were correct (doesn't happen often). It was the only model 27 below 27-6 at the whole show of 100+ tables. It also may have been a bit better than 90%, but not much.
I guess I'm still hunting. Thanks again.

There was the same gun at a show here locally. After seeing the gun for 3 times and talking to the table holder, he was ready to drop the price a bunch. He had it high at first cause someone may jump on it. If I remember correctly the gun was reduced to abt 500 or less. I eventually found a blued one abt 95% for 700.00 with a late S ser no. I also found a mint 31/2" nickle 27 last year priced reasonable. Life is good, Be Patient, Larry

Hey was that at the Marlboro show yesterday? I looked at the same gun. Seemed a bit high for that gun. I just picked one up in better condition, for $500 at Four Seasons. Keep and eye out at Four Seasons, they have been getting some nice older Smiths lately.

Exactly
You are exactly right, that was the same gun. As you walk in. just to the left.
I saw one at Four Seasons a few weeks ago. Is that the one you're talking about?

Yes that one at Four Seasons, it looked kinda beat up until I got it home, gave it a good cleaning, it turned out to be in better shape than I thought. And I always ask if its a consignment piece, and make a lowball offer, more often than not you can get a great deal!

Seems like a couple months ago there was a thread with everyone posting that a 3.5" 27 would bring $1000-$1200 with ease where they lived. What happened?

Its funny you say that because I thought I would never own a 3.5 inch 27, but alas I found one.... where I live... and it wasn't $1000 actually half that. Go figure. They are nice though and I have really enjoyed shooting it.

Saw two 3.5" Model 27-2's sell recently,
First was a 1980's N serial no box or docs with rubber grips for $550,
The other was an early 1960's S serial LNIB with serialed Magnas and a 2nd set of targets for $950.
Both were 3 screw guns in about 95% .
