Default S&W .38 Top brake 1886 new found treasue

I came across an, I believe 4th model? .38, 4in barrel., top brake, double action revolver. In fair condition. I fired her off a few times and she shoots fine. A little rust but I polished her up real good and the grip is a bit wore, but she is 100+ years old oh and no box. The dates on the top of the barrel are i believe, 65,69,71 and the final is 1886. I know it is hard to appraise it by my description but I was wondering if anyone can help me out on what she may be worth? I have been searching around and really cant find a whole lot of what I am looking for. Thanks anyone that can help me on my new found treasure.

Welcome to the forum!
That said, if you want the pro's to help out, you'll need to give
out more info. On the bottom of the butt, there should be a serial number. If you'd like, post it as 123xx for privacy concerns. Also,
pictures are just about required for valuation. Any pics will Really
help them out. I'm thinking of getting a .38 myself, so I'm anxious to
see what you've got.
Let's see, serial number, any other markings, is it SA or SA/DA....
It's pretty special to get one of the old models that still works as intended; blue or nickel? TACC1

Hi,

Check your serial number again. The little Smith top-break's serial numbers never went that high.
