Default New Model 19-2 Today

I was just browsing GunBroker last week when I found a 4" nickel 19-2 that started at what I thought was a low price, with a few blemishes, and with only one bidder. So I threw a small bid on top of that and surprise surprise, I won! I expected it would be a little work to get it looking better, but at the price I figured I did ok. It would be a nice shooter to go with my 6" 19-5. I picked it up today and it was much better than I had expected it would be. It did not take a lot to get it together. Hope to be albe to take it to the range tomorrow. 1966 vintage for under $290. What do you think?

I'm the guy who always buys guns on Gunbroker for what I later think is too much. Congratulations, that's an absolute steal. And a helluva gun, too.

That is great looking gun. I love both my 6" 19-3 and my 2 1/2" 19-3. You do have bragging rights there my friend.

That is a great gun for an outstanding price. I just won a 19 no dash for twice the price. You did very well.

Default Shot the 19 today but----

I just saw a new thread about the choice of nickel vs. blued guns, and I would admit that this being only my second nickel (the other being a Colt Cobra which I rescued and cleaned up) I did like the way it looked, besides giving me a 4" S&W which I did not have.
The gun shot great, just as nice as could be. I do have a problem seeing the front sight it is so bright against the targets it just seems invisible, but I can work on that.
But as I was shooting, I had two places where the nickel just popped off ! Two small places on the outside of the cylinder, right at the barrel end. When I got the cobra it had some places where the nickel had bubbled, and I was able to stop the rust and nothing ever flaked or peeled. But when I cleaned the 19 up yesterday there was no evidence of anything wrong here. On the spots where they flaked (I guess that is the term for what happened) the metal is hard, and no rust or corrosion.
What have I missed or is this to be expected?
