27-2 Correct Grips
I just acquired a very lovely 27-2, 4" at this weekend's gun show. The serial # is 833xxx which I believe dates it to 1980 or 81. Unfortunately, the gun came with a set of incorrect grips, so I will be looking for correct grips. I believe this year that targets were standard and would have had silver washers. Am I correct? Thanks.

Yes, I believe at that point in production, the "three Ts" (target trigger, hammer and stocks) were standard and silver washers would be found on the reverse of the stocks.

Book says target stocks were standard in 1980 with TT TH RR WO for a 4" Model 27-2.
My used Nickel 27-2 4" came with Magnas and a smooth combat trigger....

After 1975 all 27s came with full target features. A mistake on the shorter guns, IMO.
BTW- I'll bet a dollar that the serial is not 833xxx.

Some folks think the "N" is the frame designation and not part of the ser#. I bet a dollar that N is right where you'd expect it. joe

Thanks and serial number
Thanks for the info. The serial number does have the N in front so I don't think I'll risk the $. Now, all I have to do is find some grips. I've got K/L targets I can use as partial trade so I'll post on the WTB section.
