65-5 Questions
Hi guys, I've been a long time reader of the forums but this will be my first post. Today I had an opportunity to shoot a M&P 9mm and fell in love with it. Before I can get it somethings has to go and I think its going to be my Model 65-5. I am thinking about using gunbroker and wanted to see if anyone had anything to say about using that site. I have seen a wide variety of prices and I am not sure what I would start the bid at on that site. I will add some pics and any input on what you think the value is would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Welcome to the Forum. 3" model 65s are very popular now due as CCWs, so you should have no trouble finding a willing buyer.
Regarding its current value, it depends on how quickly you want to sell it. I have noted (in general) on GB that desirable items starting at 1 cent tend to get bidded up to more than market value, but if you don't want to take that risk I would think $375 (very quick sale) to $450 (may have to wait but someone will come along). Posting a Wanted to Sell listing here is also an option. Hope this is helpful.

I bought that guns twin last fall for $425.00. It was at one of the largest Gun Shows in Texas (Houston Reliant Arena) and it was the only one there. They are getting hard to find and expensive.
Sure hate that your selling it to buy a bottom feeder...

It's a coincidence, but I have the identical gun with the same Uncle Mike's grips on it, polished. It is quite a shooter, even with ful bore .357's in it.
Question to all; should I bob the hammer?

So true,
I have been only able to find 4 inchers where I am. In 4" they are a pleasure to shoot; accurate, controlable, and very concealable. Last but not least they are dual purpose; pistol shoot - or pistol whip.

I wouldn't sell it! Classic Smiths like your 65 are getting harder to come by, although 3 inch 65s do command a premium theses days.
Are you sure you don't have something else to sell to make room for your M&P? Dale

It would be worth the effort to find other means to purchase the M&P. I have a 65-3 three inch I sent to the Performance Center years ago. It is the definition of a fighting handgun. Keep the 65!

Here's mine, a 65-6. After I bought it, I had Nelson Ford in Phoenix give it an action job and dressed it up with some Craig Spegel grips. It's probably my favorite "all-around" revolver!

I hava a 65-5 3". I bought it earlier this year from a Forum member. I put CO elkhorn grips made by executioner on it. I would say... KEEP IT and find any way you can to finance the M&P! Really...

I want to thank everyone for the info it has been helpful. I am sad to see it go but I really never used it and hopefully somebody will get some more use out of it.
Thanks to this site I currently have a sale pending. If for some reason it does not work out I will let the people who PMed me know.

A Model 65 like yers would sell for around $500 here. Y'all might wanna put it on a forum like this one first, before ya try GB or another auction-site.
Personally, I would keep it and opt to save for the other one y'all wrote of.
But, that is just my opinion.......
