The 66-2 is in like new condition. Have fired perhaps a half box, if that, through it.

I originally bought it for my wife for security, but now use it when bowhunting for bear and would like a longer barrel.

I'm looking for either a 357/4-6" bbl or a 44 mag/5 1/2"-7 1/2" bbl. With the ammo I have on hand, the 357 mag would be a preference, otherwise would have to include the 357 ammo in a trade.

Please note that I am not interested in selling this item at this time, only looking for an acceptable trade.

What is the barrel length of the item you're offering?

Do you have papers, tools, box, etc.?

i take it that this is a two and a half inch gun? where are you located? cash price?

The barrel on my Model 66-2 is 2 1/2" long.

I bought the S&W Model 66-2 Stainless Steel 357 magnum new in 1981 and have been the only owner.

I have the original box it came in, it is in excellent condition, but the internal protective material is no longer there as I've used the box for storage of fly tying materials.

At my age (~69) I cannot remember what I did with the "internal protective material" as that was 30 years ago. I will have to look for the original papers, it should be here somewhere, but i don't recall where right now. I should have it as I would not have thrown it away.

I've been swamped with querries or offers of trade or sale. Frankly, I'm overwhelmed as I didn't expect this amount of response. This is far better than I expected.

Sorry about the full PM box being full. Never expected so many PMs & emails.

I've attached some pictures of my 66-2 as promised. Please note that the original S&W box is empty, without the protective foam(?) material. I've used the box for storing fly tyig materials.

Also, I've looked everywhere for the original documentation and have not been able to find it. I bought the gun new almost 30 years ago, have been the only owner, and my memory at (~69) is failing. I'll continue to look, but ???

Just yesterday I found out from one of the S&W forum members that it would cost about $100 for FFL transfer fees & shipment for me to execute a trade as I can’t use the US Post Office – I must use overnight UPS or FedEx. This was not anticipated when I first posted my desire to trade.

This is not cost effective. So, it appears that I may have to wait until a local gun shop can find a revolver that I’m looking for. I had looked before, but without success.

Right now, my preferences/alternatives appear to be either changing out the 2 ½” bbl to a 4” bbl on the model 66, if that can even be done, or trading for a model 686 at a gun shop, if I can find one.

My thanks to all that indicated an interest in trading. Frankly, I was really surprised at the level of interest. At times it was overwhelming keeping the emails & PMs sorted. To those of you looking to trade, the best of luck in finding what you want.

This is quite the forum, one that I will frequent often, it’s very informative.

Thanks to some persusive recommendations from members of this forum, I've decided to keep the 66-2. It's a gun that I really like and the desire for a longer bbl can be satisfied another way.
