Default DOB k-38 target masterpiece

k 430xx. I notice that the cylinder stop is different than on my k-22 which is k 555xx. I am guessing that the k-22 which is taller and sharper without the little round-over top and forward is the earlier style? I have been informed on this forum that the k-22 is probably late 48. Is the k-38 close in age, they sure are similar and both awesome.

Thanks, Pete

I think K430XX would be 1948. It would be 1961 if it had an additional digit in the number.

Hope this helps.

The book shows K18732 through K73121 as being the serial numbers for 1948. Both of your revolvers are within this range. The K serial numbers were used for Models 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 48, 53, 66, 67 & 68 and all of those "pre-model" variations. Basically any K frame revolver with target sights.

Hope this helps.
