Question Would you?

Hello, this is my first post, but I have been stalking the forum for months!

My question is, would you still buy a MP15-22 if you lived in the UK?
I'm thinking that if I have a problem with the rifle, it's not realistic for the importers to send it back to S&W to get it fixed, so I'm not sure if I would receive the same standard of work etc......
Also, the newest rifles I can find are DUU, is this new enough?

Cheers
Richard (England)

I can't help you with your decision, but I have a curiosity question.

What does the UK ban on semi-autos include?
Is the .22 exempt? I have a cousin who had to ship a semi-auto shotgun and handgun out of England as an alternative to confiscation.

I would, but I'm gonna order mine soon and I live in Holland.

People here have been having problems with their earlier versions and it’s all resolved by the importer, it just takes some time 

The only semi auto rifle that is allowed is .22 rimfire (inc. .22WMR), centre fire is a no no.
No handguns at all (apart from LBP and a few deer stalkers have pistols for finishing off - which is really very, very rare)
You can have a semi auto shotgun on a shotgun certificate (mag restricted to 2+1) or unlimited mag shotgun on firearms certificate.

I think I'm going to go for the 15-22, hopefully it won't end in tears!

If I were you, I would: 1) go to page 2 of the threads here and look at what the latest serial "numbers" are to make sure the DUU is not too far back. 2) Go buy that 15-22. I would say that if it is not a really old serial number there is a 99.5% chance you will have flawless function. I love mine (purchased in Dec of 2010) and would certainly buy it again. Has been free of malfunctions since day #1.

Enjoy your new gun!!

I also live in England and have had my 15-22 for a year with no problems, it is a DUA serial number and came from Wayne at NW Custom. If you can get to the Phoenix at Bisley at the end of May I'm sure all the different AR15 type .22s will be on show. Of all the ones I looked at the 15-22 is the best and still seems to be the best priced although no where near as cheap as they are in the US.

Go for it Richard before you can’t have them either,
if you have extraction problems (which you shouldn’t this late in the game) you can bend the extractor yourself

Thought I'd just let you know that I decided not to go for the M&P15-22.
I've ordered a new CMMG M4 .22LR, it makes more sense to me, as I can get a straight pull .223 upper for it as well.

Cheers
Rich
