Default New Model 10-10 GB gun

Won a bid yesterday for this M10-10, thought I had it for $350 until another bidder with about a minute left decided to start bidding till it went over $400... too bad there wasn't some way to communicate with the other bidder, cause it was stupid, could have had it for a really good price.. oh well, I like the looks of it, don't have to pay shipping cause the guy is local to me, just the $25 FFL fee.

I like S&W #10's, I have three of them, and two #64's. You will enjoy it.

Over $400 for a 10-10........thought I'd never see the day..

There's always the "other" US revolver maker that starts with "R"......their equivalent of the Model 10 can still be found for $200 if you look around. Saw a few yesterday at a gun show for $250. I bought 4 of them

I guess if I wanted a cheap gun, maybe I'll get one that starts with an R..... Guess the $200 price tag supports that statement. I'll take one 10-10 over 4 Cheap R's... for now these will have to do.. oh ya.. there is one R and a B in there... I could have bought 2 10's for the cost of that one R..

Yes! Keep spreading the word that "R's" are cheap garbage and 20 of them is not worth one S&W While others at the gun show were distracted by black plastic and a case full of S&W's I was walking out with a box full of more R's.

My lowly poor man's Model 10 substitute found for $250. =)

That's not too bad lookin... I think you overpaid for it, but that's ok as long as you like it. What is that big black dot in the middle of the frame betweenthe top of the grip and the cylinder.....

That "dot" is the back side of the pin the hammer rides on; the RH side is oblong and held on by the RH stock. The revolver can be broken down using a cartridge rim to remove the stocks, then a pin hidden inside the stock locating pin is used to disassemble the hammerstrut/spring assembly. The yoke and cylinder can be removed then the triggerguard pulled out. It is a neat design.

Remember, you can never pay too much for a gun, just too soon. In ten years, you'll be glad you paid that much for it. Congratulations and enjoy it.

It's in nice shape, but what you experienced is called a "shill bidder"--it's a trick to run the price up. Fool me once, etc.

Really nice 10-10, better than X amount of off brands. Older, wiser collectors always told me "buy the best quality you can buy". It's not quantity it's quality. ymmv

I have room in my heart for both S&W's and my "R" guns At $250 I'll overpay all day for them.

I do not consider my R's to be off brands, nor lacking in quality but I will take them in quantity! If it's made in the US I have room for it.

Just joking around here, don't want some Serious Sam coming in here throwing flames

Also found a poor man's off brand alternative to a 4" 629......I am of the unwashed masses so I need to take what I can get

Thanks guys, I've been trying to buy guns that are in really good shape and shootable, yet still have some value. It's also too bad I share my purchase with a Smith and Wesson group and have to justify my purchase being compared to an R gun...

Sorry for trying to joke around a little bit

I was just going on your original post about how another bidder ran the price up on the 10-10, didn't figure you'd get irritated by a few light hearted comments. I wasn't trying to make anyone "justify" anything, more like making fun of myself for buying holster buffed "off brands" that no one is competing with each other for. Sometimes humor is lost with typed words I guess.

Won't be finding any Rs around here for $250. Around these parts I see guys with their logo on their trucks. Very popular in this region.

Thanks Stan.... I like that, and yes, lost in translation is pretty common on the IT.. I appreciate the response... now, if I could only find one of those $200 guns.. on a light note, my wife and I hit the woods for a walk and then down to our outdoor range for some fun in the sun... while we were both shooting our Mark III R guns.. a father and son show up to sight in some of their big cal black guns along with a new LCP-9 I think is the right name.. so the father bangs out a mag and proclaims everyone should own one of these cause he hit the target 10ft away, then the son keeps mumbling about shooting the wood bee thats flying around us and the father loudly tells him to "don't shoot the bees, bees are people too"... must have heard that at least 5-6 times.. the second mag the kid shoots, jams like real ugly, the slide is locked half way back and it ain't movin... I wanted to pull out my M&P45 and show them a tack driver at 21ft... or wished I had the wifes M&P9c to show em a flawless running gun.. oh well, we had a great time at the range and walking the woods.. but once again I learned another valueable gun lesson.... don't ever bring a bore sighter to the gun range....

I hear there's a forum dedicated for those R guns.

I'm no huge fan of semi-auto R's either, especially the newest stuff. The plastic stuff they have come out with does not excite me. Their older stuff is better.

I do have a S&W 10-10 but's it's not anywhere as nice as the original pics by the OP. I got one of the Japanese security trade ins that came in 2 years ago, it was so beat up I had to change the cylinder and then I turned it into a single action Bullseye gun.

I had one of those cheap Redhawks myself, once upon a time. Ruger refused to repair this one, but offered a discount price on a new gun of my choice.

I replaced it with a handier version.
