629es 3"
I bought a 629es bear survival kit on a whim the other day. I thought it would be good backup when hog hunting. I figured it would shoot okay with the 3" barrel, man was i wrong. This little gem is a tack driver and recoil is easy with blazer hp. The hornandy leveroution had a bit more kick but not bad.I ended up putting 120 rnds in her before i went home.3 shots at 20yds standing. If i can get a clean shot within 25yds i will be eating bacon.

I have a 3" 629 that I just LOVE. It too is amazingly accurate. I do find I prefer 44 specials out of it though. I'll be looking for something without the muzzle blast my other powders produce, and it distracts me too much.

The 3 inchers go well with reloading. You can find a good balance of power and shootability. A 240 grain hard cast SWC and around 8.5 grains of Unique works pretty well in mine. It too is very accurate. Have fun with your new toy.

I bought a new M629 last summer, and I like it wa-a-a-a-y more than I thought I would! I usually do not shoot full throttle magnum loads in it; my general-purpose load is 8.5 grains of Unique and a 240 grain cast SWC in .44 magnum brass.

I cant get over how much fun i had shooting it. I figured i would run a cylinder or two in but i couldnt put it down. I got a simply rugged pancake holster for it and carries nice. If im hunting or plinking you can bet it will be with me. I need to start reloading next, 30.00 box is the only down fall.

I am just now looking into an anti bear gun myself.. am looking at a 629 performance Center either in .41 or .44 mag. I reload already for .41 and love the caliber..so much can be done with it, but may go with the 44 mag. I have not decided yet. Just wondering, is your gun ported? I really do not want a ported gun if I can avoid it. Prefer to NOT have the flame blind me at or near dark, if I had to use for self protection. I plan on carrying this weapon for CCW as well. Anyway, you 629es looks great. Enjoy!!

No it doesnt have ports, i dont like ported guns either. Here is my carry rig it is a simply rugged with removable straps for iwb carry and is 3 slotted for owb carry. I have carried it iwb in shorts and a t-shirt, but i prefer owb with it just use a good stiff belt........................................................................................ ....

Your carry holster looks great and is set up for Carrying both ways and I like it. Like I said, I have to decide on a caliber, but am leaning towards the .41. Ditto on a stiff holster. Thanks
