I recently purchased a used 4 screw k-22. The hammer broke off while firing the first 25 rounds. It was a .500 wide hammer. I got the part and installation done by S&W. The Hammer was $57 and the labor was about the same. All better now... shoots nice. The hammer showed signs of being defective, however S&W would not warranty the part.
I have purchased parts from Numerich of late for other repairs, however they charge about $2-4 extra per part over S&W prices, and sometimes send you used vs the advertised new part. I recently had to return two hammers before obtaining a .500 Wide Target Hammer. Then they send me a used one, although complete instead of stripped.
Get your parts from the manufacturer. S&W is easy to deal with and sometimes will even ship you a screw or two for free.
