My Smith and Wesson 1911 TRP (model 108309LE) did great in my initial break in firing. The picture posted is two magazines, rapid fire from 25 feet; I was using 230 grain Winchester ball ammunition. Last month I used this gun during a level three advanced firearms course firing all frangible ammunition at metal targets. The multiple drills all required shots from 21 to 45 feet, mostly head strikes. The drills also included weak and strong hand, wounded officer scenarios with a single handed reload. The frangible ammunition clearly leaves more gun powder residue that can gunk your gun up.
Out of over 300 rounds fired, I only had three FTF, those while I was firing one handed, most likely limp wristed the shots.
I have had four other 1911's, three Kimbers’ and one Colt. The finish on the Smith is much better than my Colt, and the accuracy is identical. I like the external extractor on the Smith, and the accuracy is typical of a custom 1911. The Melonite finish is excellent, matches my M&P’s which holds up well to weather and holster wear. I paid over $200 less for the Smith than the other 1911's and had better results. The stock 8 round ACT magazines made in Italy, stamped S&W, did just as well as my Wilson Combat Magazines. Bottom line, if you are looking for a RELIABLE 1911, the model 108309LE is steel on target.
