Coyote hazing-banned on college campuses but not Jefferson Parish
The high water has pushed an abnormal amount of coyotes into neighborhoods where they have been feasting on the cats. JPSO in conjunction with the animal shelter had put out a "Hazing Guide"-I kid you not.
http://www.jeffparish.net/downloads/...azingGuide.pdf
So basically when we see a coyote we are to taunt it until it goes away-and if it doesn't leave we are to taunt it again.
How do we taunt them??? "Your father is a hamster and your mother smells of elderberries!"

Here abouts we *taunt* them with firearms.
They seem to get the point.

What would really be interesting would be a question and answer session with the folks that came up with this "concept." Flapjack.

Bring the coyote to a college fraternity...they know how to handle these things.

That is truly a fine thing to say before you shoot a coyote. I like those words so much I may tape them to my rifle stock. Otherwise I might get my words wrong and say "your father was an elderberry and your mother sniffed hamsters".

If taunting them doesn't work, it is obviously time for something completely different, perhaps introduction of killer rabbits to the neighborhood, or even deploying the Holy Hand Grenade. If all else fails, threaten them with the comfy chair, even coyotes don't expect the Spanish Inquisition!

I think the last coyote I taunted was with a .30-06. He didn't take the taunting well at all.

Now that's funny, I don't care what you say. Years ago a neighbor came to me in tears stating her cat "Muffin" (the one eating all the wild birds) was missing. It was all I could do to keep from smiling. It's interesting, if you or I killed a wild bird we'd violate the Migratory Bird Act and face a Federal Court. But if "Muffin" does it, why it's just cats being cats. And don't ask me what happened to "Muffin".

If we could only get coyotes to eat and kill geese.
They shouldn't have a hard time of it, but many large animals are "buffaloed" by geese behavior. One good bite on the neck and dinner is served.
Taunting coyotes...I think I have a nice .32-20 that will taunt them very well. Maybe I'll go to the store and get a birthday cake from the bakery and lure them in with it.

I can guess.
I don't enjoy shooting cats, and I will not kill someone's house cat on purpose, but I am plagued with feral cats that are put out by tender-hearted animal lovers at a couple of dumpsters near me. Then there is the tenderhearted neighbor who probably feeds 20 lbs of dry feed a week. I was at his house one day when he rattled his feed can. Cats started coming out of the woods, about 15 before I left. When I catch them in my woods, they are fair game.
I decided a few years back that I wouldn't be quite so hard on the yotes. Unlike the cats, the yote population is sort of self regulating. A round of parvo or rabies cuts the population down every few years. Realistically, I believe they are more beneficial to the small-game population than they are harmful, simply because of all the cats they remove. Cats are the number one killer of small game and song birds. As far as I'm concerned, the yipper dogs can eat all the cats and deer they want.

Redlevel..........I hear what you're saying about going easy on the yotes, but I figure they are fair game too!
I'm not really going to put much of a dent in the yote population, they are just too intelligent and prolific. I might get a couple here and there, but two seem to show up for every one I shoot .
Cats...I like cats, but not feral cats....it's open season them too, when I see them where I hunt.
