Question Touch up for Mod.325PC?

If a stainless revolver gets a scratch, no problem. A little Mother's Mag polish will set it right again. A blued revolver will have to be treated with Brownell's Ortho Blue with less ideal results. Scandium framed revolvers such as the Thunder Ranch 325PC leave me puzzled however. S&W is not very helpful in this regard either : Product: Model 325 Thunder Ranch For that matter they don't even reveal whether the finish is a paint, or some sort of chemical derived treatment, only that the finish is "matte black". Probably the latter which explains why the internal pins' mountings leave a different color on the external frame sides. So my question is, what does this finish consist of and why did S&W choose it if it is not totally consistent with the entire external surfaces of the revolver? Furthermore how does one remove small scratches from this finish?
