We have one of the older six shot SP101 in .22 lr. I don't remember if it is the two or four inch barrel. We'll probably have to get one of these too!

Might have to reconsider buying a 43c. Like the SA/DA feature. Wonder what they will sell for compared to the not yet available S&W.

Yeah, saw that in G&A and love it. I think they will fly off the shelves.
My only complaint is the HiViz sights but it said in the article that there will be target sights for it.

Good move, although I prefer standard iron sights. Somebody finally figured out that making guns people want is good for business.
Always wished they had made a .22 LR version of the old Security Six--that would have been a real winner.

Well, there's my next purchase. I've been dreaming about 1 of the 63's, but I'm to dang cheap to pull the trigger on one, least I know the Ruger will be in a price range that won't make me question my judgement.

That's gonna kill all the folks who bought the older original ones for big bucks as collectables.
Where did you get the info and picture??

I bought a SP101 in .22lr about twenty years ago. I paid $200.00 for it new in the box.
I bought it to shoot, not to look at, so Ruger can make all the SP101s in .22 they like.
What I do like about the new ones is that they are adjustable for elevation.

I have always wanted one of these. Hopefully they will make them more widely available than the originals were.

According to chatter on the Ruger Forum, G&A was not authorized to print the info, Ruger is not ready yet and does not have a definite release date. False alarm.

I handled the prototype about a year ago, and there was a difficulty getting the sights adjusted for 25 yards. (couldn't get enough elevation). It was a sweet handling and well balanced gun and I agree, this will give a Mod 63 a run for it's money.

Ugly, clunky, hard to work on and poor ergonomics...what can I say...It's a Ruger.

What's going to be the real street price on these things?
If if hits stores for right around $400, they'll sell them.
If it's between $425-495, they'll sell a few less.
If it's going to be over $500 on the shelf at a dealer, why did they bother with it? Sure, they'll sell them to hard-core gun guys like us, but the majority of people will spend $300...maybe $400 of discretionary income on one right now on a .22.

The article in G&A listed MSRP as $645. My guess the street price will be between $450 - $500. That would mean only more serious shooters will initially buy.

Therein lies the rub.
I think it's a great little gun, and would like to have one, but it's out of the price range to sell huge numbers of them to novice shooters who really need an affordable kit gun for inexpensive target practice.
Great gun, not so good price- even though it's roughly $100 less than the MSRP of a S&W 63- it's still not correctly priced for most new shooters.

This adds one more .22 cal handgun I put on my waiting list;
I have been very patient (like I have a choice) awaiting the release of the S & W 43C...even saved the money up for it. Then a year into my wait Browning comes out with their 1911-22 which I put I my list and found isn't avaiable that they wouldn't release it till this July (if then)...and now this Ruger .22.
Waiting is good for you...it demonstrates what you can live without and builds character, or makes you a character. Heck, it gives you something to look forward too.

I think it is great they got rid of that stupid rear sight!! That has been the only reason I never bought the sp101. I hope they upgrade the sights for the .327 federal!!

I'd have to disagree. The 6-shot .22 SP probably won't go up in value right away. But give it 10 years and it will be worth more.
Just like many will pay more for an OM unconverted Blackhawk instead of NIB NM.

Lucky for me that I hadn't heard about the Ruger before I got my 3" M317. I fell in love with the 317 as soon as I got it! I imagine that the SP will weigh about 28 oz. That makes it a serious target gun, but not so great as a plinker. Still, there's a huge open spot in the market for a good 22 lr.
I never did get around to trying the Charter Pathfinder. Has anyone
here ever shot one? TACC1

I hope they really do make it. I'd like to see it, but I doubt I'd go out and buy one. I've got about a dozen 22 revolvers as it is.
I doubt it will hurt the value of the old ones. No matter how good they make it, someone will always go around telling everyone how much better the old ones were. Shoot, the old ones will probably be worth even more before too long.
