Default Finally Got It

Well, it took a while (slow gunsmith) but I finally picked up the wife's 642CT today. So it's range time tomorrow for both of us. Can't wait to see how both of us do. We neither have any experience with a laser. Owners manual for the CT says it is sighted in at the factory for 50 feet. Seems a little far for me for this type of pistol. We'll have to see. Attached a couple of pics for those that might be interested. Thanks for making me feel welcome.

I picked up the exact same model about 18 months ago, after deciding I needed a "summer gun", all the other CCW guns I had were too big, bulky, or both. I carry my 642 any time I can't carry something bigger, and it's very comforting to know it shoots where the laser is looking.

DA practice is something I do a lot of, and I shoot this little gun better than I expected. But you still have to practice!

I concerned about the laser and getting it sighted in correctly. 50 feet seems to far for me. 16+yards seems a bit farther than you're likely meet up with in a self defense situation. Still excited about getting it on the range. Thanks for your response.

The difference in point of impact from 7 to 17 yards is miniscule, compared to the variance YOU induce from shot-to-shot in double action shooting, especially rapid-fire. My gun hits about two inches to the right of POA at 12 yards. I don't worry about it. If I can hit within two inches of where I'm aiming at 36 feet, I'm doing WAY better than 99% of the people I've shot with.

Default Thuler Drill

A Thuler drill is an armed man with a training knife at 15 yards who run at you with your holstered training gun, 50 feet is pretty damn close.

Default Good Points

Good points. I don't want to have to adjust the laser if I don't need to. Tomorrow will tell.
