Default Markings on "new to me" 3913

Sold off all my Glocks and Sigs and a couple of AR's cause I was needing some money then realized for the first time in 20+ years I had no centerfire handgun. The only handgun I had was a mint condition 1968 S&W 6" 22 revolver. My first handgun ever was a 645,so now I was really wanting a 4566 but saw so many happy 3913 owners it was just up to which one could I find first. Visited all the local gun shops and only one had a good selection of used 2 and 3 gen S&W's. They had a near flawless 3913 and got it for 450 out the door, tax and all. I will have to say it is the best handgun i have
ever bought. The gunshop said it was a police trade-in. Question is, it is marked ( lazer etched I assume) from the factory on the barrel, slide and frame with the letters " B0012" will try to post a pic later. What police dept would this be from? Didnt know if anyone else out there had one marked this way and knew where it came from? Thanks.

One possibility is the CA Dept of Corrections. Robertson Trading has several of these at Guns America. Just go to GA and search on 3913.
