Do you have an I-Phone?
My wife wants one. She has put up with my quirks for over 25 years, is still working every day while I am out playing and is so low maintenance that whatever she wants I want to get for her.
But, a friend recently got one and says it only maintains its charge for 6-8 hours. He uses it for work and does emails and orders on it, checks the net, etc.
He also says there is no wall charging with the phone, rather it must be plugged into the computer to charge.
None of this sounds right to me, but, if it is true, then I need to steer my wife to something else.
Anyone with any experience with the newer Verizon I-Phone?

I have had a 3GS and now a 4.....
WRONG.....
If you use it all day long, keep the location feature on, constantly surf, talk, text, etc.....I get 8-9 hours out of it.....but that is HARD use....
Every iPhone comes with a wall charger that can be converted to computer charging as well.....car chargers are available as well....
I use mine for everything, I love it....some folks hate them....but for me it is the only phone I will use.....

Best phone I've ever had. The apps have been more than useful and there are functions on it I use daily. I can monitor my security cameras at our warehouse through it, and also find the best sushi place in town ..... love it.

I have an I phone 3G and I use it a lot but it only needs charging once a day. The only charger I have for it plugs in a regular electrical outlet.
I love it

Should you want the female perspective:
My Iphone does an excellent job and I'm really enjoying it. I would have to echo everything stated above and suggest you get her one and she will thank you big time.

I love mine...if you want to extend battery life, turn off the wireless when you are out...otherwise, it uses power searching for it...you can also close all the apps down that you don't use regularly so they aren't running in the background...

Same here.
There's a lot to learn about them other than normal use. All that info is available for free on the net.
Get it for her. She will love it.

No way. I'm retired, and I won't even carry the company supplied cell phone they've given me. All cell phones are instruments of torture. There are people who will call you at all hours of the day and night, and its always for their benefit or convenience. The day I retired I stopped answering the phone on other peoples basis. I can't be bothered whenever anyone wants me.
If in your mind, you're so important everyone should be able to reach you, OK.

You either need a new friend or he/she needs some extensive cognitive help.
The iPhone comes with a wall charge adapter and a cable that either plugs into that adapter or your computer.
If you lose the one that came with the phone, you can get a replacement on Amazon for under $10.00.
I resisted getting a smart phone for years but now use my iPhone extensively.

Pretty extreme there Dick.
Cell phones can be of great benefit, or they can control your life.
But I don't think it's the phones fault.

BTW, check out ebay for accessories...Griffin makes a good product and they have great feedback...I got their car charger for around 7 bucks shipped and it works great...don't buy a no name dollar charger...it could fry your phone...also, if you have fat fingers...or bad eyes, texting can be a pain in the ***...so I got a griffin stylus for another 10 bucks..no more misspellings...

Ditto - I don't even answer our land line. My better half has our only "cell phone" with a monthly 300 min limit. Most months we might use 50 of them. Life is different when retired - different in a great way!

My wife has used I-phones since they came out and she loves them. I finally broke down and bought a 3GS. Only $49 and it's great. They are fragile, but there are plenty of rubber or plastic cases that give excellent protection if you drop the phone. If you get your wife one, you'll want one yourself.

I've got an Android and love it. It does it all for me. You might at least look at the droids before buying an iphone, there is a reason their market share has exploded recently and eaten into the iphone market.

Thanks for the answers. I can't wait to see my friend tomorrow to tell him he does have a wall charger that he can use.
Sounds like, if you use it quite a bit, it needs to be charged daily.
Anyone know the standby time if one just carries it and doesn't use it too much?
You are right, I will probably want one.
I got her an Ipad for our 25th, thought it was silly, but now I kinda want one.

When I was ready to buy I looked at both side by side. For me, the IPhone clearly had a better user interface. And some of the Droids battery life is a joke.
Glad you like yours. But I went with the Iphone and I'm glad I did.

I love the gps on my iPhone. That little blue dot shows me exactly where I missed that last turn! I sure don't have ask for directions.
The alarms and calendar alerts are great too. Did I mention I have an app that let's me use the camera led flash as a flashlight?

You can actually even get a solar battery charger for them off some of the Japanese sites as well. I suppose if you were out hunting and for some reason got lost, one of those might make the difference between someone being able to triangulate where you were and having the battery die.

My office made me give up my Blackberry for an iPhone
iPhone has better graphics but otherwise is much inferior.

tell your friend to find his iPhone box and lift up the cardboard black cover that fit right under his phone...the charger and USB cable that goes into the wall are right there....
