What is this 66-3 2.5" worth?
My friend asked me a value on this 66 and wanted to get your opinions as well.
It is a 66-3 that was refinished by Robar in what he describes as satin black with the other parts being either hard chromed or bead blasted. What you see is what he gets.
What say you?

value as a collector piece is gone...value as a shooter? I would have to say 450-500 (for me anyhow)...you might find someone who just wants that exact configuration and would pay more, but that would entail some wait time.
If it was in the original condition I could see 500-650 depending on box, papers, mechanical condition, ect....you know that drill well
...I know that someone put some money into making it the way that it is, but as-is with custom guns...you won't always get your $$ back out of it. Good luck with the sale.

agree
SA FIREMAN is right. Some will try to sell such a gun by touting the cost of the gun plus the cost of the work. The reality is one cannot get one's money out of a custom gun for the most part. Since Robar did the work and the Smith is sound, it should be fairly easy to sell to a shooter however....that is as long as the price is tempting, and around $450 would be about right.

It's a non P&R M-66, with non standard grips and a "unique" finish sorry but I'm thinking $350.00 - $400.00 at best.
Remember That custom guns are like custom cars, enjoy it when you have it, cause 98% of the time you will never get your investment back.

It would worth less than $400 to me, $350 would be in the ballpark. I never could understand adding a dark finish to a stainless gun. Kind of like taking a shower in a trenchcoat.

That's a very sharp looking gun. As others said, no collector's value but plenty of value as a shooter to the right person. If I really wanted it I'd drop $400 +/-.

It is indeed a model 66-5 2.5'' , and has the heavier barrel of the -5s.
Also has all m.i.m. parts.
I have seen 3.2'' 66-5s not sell easily for $700. or so, and my
3.2" 66-5 is one of my favorite shooters.
the robar work neither adds nor detracts from value in my book.
The grips are original but also valueless.
$500. to a motivated buyer. Less as motivation lessens.
I would want to know if the finish would be more durable than the factory
stainless brush/polish finish. If it is, that might be a selling point.

Agree with the 350-400 ballpark price...at least around the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
