Default Nikon M223 for M&P15

Hello,
I'm wanting to add a scope to my M&P15OR...I've always been a fan of Nikon products. I would like to know everyones thoughts on the new Monarch 223 series....what advantages, other that the BDC reticle option are these scopes giving over say a standard monarch, prostaff, etc. A 3-12x40 M223 runs around $399 from optics planet the 3-12x 40 prostaff is $189.00. Is it going to be worth 2x the price?

Thanks

I have the M223 2-8X32.It is a great target scope, does not have the 3MOA dot which can cover the targets at longer ranges.

Agree the Nikon M223 Series are a real bargain in terms of quality vs. price. Specifically designed for use with ARs and enhanced by Nikon's Spot On, Ballistics calculator.

Nikon Spot On™ Ballistic Match Technology Program

As ranger mentions, the 1-4X20 version has the 3MOA center spot which is ideal for 3 Gun competition but still very servicable as a general purpose scope out to around 200 yds. It is advantaged by size and weight as well as field of view for "combat" type of shooting/competition. Both have their place and decide based upon your intended use.

HD, it's all about the bells and whistles. How far do you want to shoot, do you like a BDC reticle or the Rapid Action Turret. When I am hunting I like the BDC reticle, target shooting at known long ranges the Rapid Action Turret sure is nice. I have shot both of the 3-12's out to 600 yards a number of times and it is fun. The 1-4 is great inside 200 yards. The Point Blank Reticle lets you pick up targets quickly and connect with your shot.
Definitely check out Nikon's Spot On Ballistic Program for whatever Nikon Scope you choose. It's free and will help make you a better shooter.
Here's a pic of a Smith 22LR that I put a M-223 1-4 on. Huge fun and it helps make you so much faster on short range metal targets.
Drop me a note with any questions.

Those scopes look good guys...I'm leaning towards that 2-8x32; I don't like to cheap out on things either
