Default I have this "friend" with a barrel quest.

I think he's totally clueless and is most likely too embarrassed to ask me directly. He wanted to know if there is any difference (size or any other way) between a pre war .38 special fixed sight barrel for a K frame..and a pre war .38 special barrel for a fixed sight N frame (HD). I tell ya.. some guys. I told him I'd ask the group and pass it on to him if that makes him happy.

I'm sure he thanks ya'll profusly.

Jim gave the correct short answer.

The long answer is that the barrels for the two different frame sizes differ in barrel shank diameter and length, and are not interchangeable.

Nevermind I ..uh I mean "he" just remembered that full underlug thingy.
Thanks anyway.

Roger

Thanks John, so besides the full underlug on the N there are those other differences too. I'm a learning.
Truth is I got a pre war heavy duty with a 6.5 bbl. Our most excellent friend Mr Patteson advised it left the factory as a 5 inch. I'm ok with that since I really like this gun anyway. But I did start wondering, even if it didn't leave as a 6.5 the barrel still might be a legit pre war 6.5 HD barrel which in itself is kinda neat. It has the patent info on it but of course no serial number at all.

I'll try to get some pics up soon. It should be a great shooter.

Roger
