Lobster Time
Hey Gizamo. Heading up your way Sunday. I can't wait to start counting the dead porcupines on the road. Ending up in Bass Harbor to eat lobsters and blueberries all week.

Jules and I went blueberry picking yesterday. Went to the family farm and picked enough to freeze to get use through to this time, next year.
Have a great time, the native sweet corn is starting...and don't forget the steamers...plus lots of butter...

Sitting on a deck, overlooking the ocean in Maine, eating fresh lobster and drinking a cold beer, life doesn't get much better than that (except perhaps to add a couple of ears of fresh corn).

Are there fresh mussels this year, or are they claiming a red tide again?

On the news today was a piece about how the Red Tide was almost non existent this year....so enjoy the mussels...plus use lots of wine and beer to flush all the butter out of your arteries...
Beer is proof that God loves us.

Red tide has been very light this summer but warnings still should not be ignored. PSP, or paralytic shellfish poisoning, can kill you in short order. A couple of years ago a family up my way ate mussels they found growing off a barrel they'd picked up floating off shore. They assumed since it was in open water they were clean. They ended up hospitalized and at least a couple of them on life support.
That said, if you're looking for steamers Harrington is the place. The best clams in Maine come out of Harrington and we're the last town on the coast to be hit by red tide.

One of the highlights of my Wyoming Highway Patrol career was sittin' on wharf eatin' lobster in Kennibunkport.
Them there lobsters ranks right up there with good Wyoming roadkilled beef.

How far does the hot pursuit doctrine extend?
Actually, I was just another of them state employees attending a meeting on the taxpayer's dime.
