What should I ask for my 65-5 3"?
What should I ask for my 65-5 3". It is a very tight gun all the way around. Shoots good. I bought a 65-5 Lady Smith and it is a very good gun too but I like the ejector shroud on the Lady Smith. I don't need both.
Any opinions are fine.

I just happily paid $400 for a gun in a little worse condition than yours. Add in shipping and FFL, and I was out $450. I would pay the same for yours at least.

Average gunbroker price for a 65 3" is about $500. Locally for me it's about $450.

Nice gun! Is there something painted on the front sight to make it look black, or is that just a trick of the lighting?

Thanks for the input guys.
The front sight has black paint on it. It was there when I got it and it worked for me. I need to do something to the Lady Smith so I can shoot it too.
I shot it in the evening and got a 6 to 8" group. Shot it again with some flat black paint and got a 2" group. At 15 yards. I don't care for the flat black though.

I just paid...
...$425 for my Model 65-5, and I considered myself fortunate. I've been searching for one for over two years, until last Thursday.
I took mine to the range yesterday, and it ate .38 +P's and .357 magnums with equal ease, and grouped very nicely, even in double action mode and rapid fire.
You should be able to fetch at least that much, and probably more.

It's been a couple of years ago since I bought a 65 three inch.
I last bought 3 in one day from a friend. Paid $350.00 for a 65-5 in just about your guns condition. I would imagine they are going for more now.
I find that the value of a gun depends a lot on what part of the country you're trying to sell it in.

Just picked up a 95% 65-6 I bought from a forum member, no box, Uncle Mike's grips, he was asking $350 shipped and I gladly gave it to him.
If I was selling your gun I'd put it in the classifieds here for $450-$475 including shipping. Of course, that's not a huge amount of money, so unless I was hard up for some cash, I'd probably just hang on to it. Lots of things are easier to keep than to sell and try to buy again later.

I think anything under $500 would be a good deal for the buyer. Don't see many with the 3" barrel around here.

I seem to run into the 3" 65's quite often so to me, they're not scarce. That said, I would expect to pay $450 for something in 95% condition. Adjust by $50 either way depending on the buyer's and/or seller's motivation.
