Default 6906 and 4516

Anyone have both and a picture to show relative size to one another? I love my 6906...and have been thinking about a 4516. I have it's big brother...a 645 (the transitional model that became the 4506)...and just wonder how the two compared. Thanks much.

Aden,

I don't, sorry. But, the slide on a 4516 protrudes past the frame about a quarter of an inch if that helps.

The 16 is thinner and much heavier than the 06.

Aden67, I saw a nice one very recently at guns and gun parts in West Springfield Ma. Think he was asking $450.

Good Luck!

Here is a couple of pics for comparison. Overall size will be close where the 6906 will have a fatter grip but the 4516 will feel longer and narrow. Width of the frame, measured just under the beaver tail is 1.00 on the 6906 and .790" on the 4516. Slide width is .925" on the 6906 and .985 on the 4516, this does not include the safety. All of the 3rd gen compacts are reasonably close in size. excluding the CS models.

My 4516-1 is the US Marshals Edition

If you like the compacts, you will like anyone of these: 4513TSW, 4516-1, 4013TSW, 6906, and 3913

In addition to kcode's comments above, remember that the 4516 is a very heavy pistol. It is the world's most reliable boat anchor....

Wow...thanks for the great pics gentlemen. Got to love how they look together.

Appreciate everyone's help and now just have to be patient and find a nice 4516 (or a 4513).

Also on the hunt for a 5906. Lot's around, but a really want an early version with the square trigger guard and the adjustable sights.

I figure I would have a nice collection of big/smalls with a 645/4516 and 5906/6906.

Will come back to this thread if I find one...

Best to you all...

The square trigger guard was a remnant of the 1980s, so that 6906 is an early one. I have one just like it that is a "TCR" prefix and it was made in 1988.

They made them both ways. They also made the 5906 both square and round as well mine is square.

Yep, my 6906 is an early one with the square trigger guard...same as with my 645 (transitional 4506).

Got a couple of early 5906's with the square guard's in my grasp...so I will see what happens.
