Digging through my stuff tonight I found a model 21 S&W holster also marked with the number 44. I found the sticky from ko41 that showed that back in 1978 this model was made for colt revolvers Commando, Lawman, Metropolitan, Official Police, Marshal, Police positive, Python, Three-Five-Seven & Trooper with a 4" bbl.
That was back in 1978. Does anyone have a more current chart? Are there any S&W revolvers that have been made since then that will fit this model?
I'd have never guessed on my own. Had to round up my 4" 686 and try it and it fits better in the S&W than the uncle mike's I'd bought for it. It sits in it such that the trigger guard is better protected. Other than the UM's is left handed and this is right handed. I could have saved me some cabbage if I'd have just asked here first. Thank you!
