Default Early M64 Standard Barrel Question??

A semi local shop has a very nice looking Model 64, has magna pc grips , 4" standard barrel, no box. Nice looking gun all in all. As I was looking I notice it has a red insert in the front sight. My thought it that this was done after the fact and not from the factory. Also the insert looked a bit big compared to factory ones I have, but I do not have any inserts in a k frame round sight.

Am I correct in thinking this was not a factory install. Also this would ruin all electability and make it a shooter?

Thanks!

Default sight

i have never seen an insert from the factory on a model 64,brownell's offers the kits to install them.
i have one of these guns and i know they are getting harder to find as not thant many were made, but i shoot everything i have, i don't see the since in having them if you don't shoot them, because if you just collect someday when you are gone someone will shoot it ,might as well be you having the fun.

a model 64, with a 4 inch barrel, is a shooter, and a darn good one.

I would agree for the most part!
However I am looking for a nice standard barrel 64 to keep these company

Thanks to the others confirming that it was added, its a shame it was a nice piece.
