Yes, you read it right, I have a factory five inch K-38 that was one of 200 guns shipped to the ISP, in October 1957, this is based on information from articles in the Smith and Wesson Journal. I have not lettered this gun, but in a reply to my question Mr. Jinks also stated base on the serial number it was one of the 200. Anyway time to move it, I would rate it as good, has holster wear on both sides of the muzzle maybe about 1/2 back, has another wear mark on the left side of the grip area that is under the stocks. No rust, the stocks when I bought it were rubber, so I added a pair of diamond target stocks, that has the left side relieved before I owned them. price is $800 shipped and I will provide pics to serious requests. Also the buyer will receive the copies I have of the serial numbers from the articles mentioned with this one highlighted. thanks
