Default Are Model 442 Cylinders Now Carbon Steel?

So I was perusing the Smith and Wesson Web site and discovered that they now list the Model 442 as having a Carbon Steel cylinder instead of a Stainless Steel cylinder. Previously, the Model 442 had been listed as having a stainless steel cylinder and a carbon steel barrel.

Anybody have an insight on this?

Curiously, the M&P 340 is still listed as having a stainless steel cylinder.

I always believed the 442 had a carbon steel cylinder. The catalog just says it's a steel cylinder. The one I have right now has a blackened color to it, which I will assume is not stainless.

I apologize, but I wanted to bump this to the top in order to see if anyone else had any additional information. Thank you.

S&W has gone back and forth on this over the years. They used to be CS and then SS and now, it seems, back to CS.
