Default Model 53 price check please.

Anyone have any thoughts on the value of a Model 53 4 screw? It is 97% in the original box with paperwork and inserts. It does not have the extra cylinder.

I saw one just like you describe at a gunshow this weekend and it included 2 boxes of ammo - price was $900. The one I saw was 6" barrel (they are most common). The 4" and 8.375" barrels bring a premium.
I thought it was a fair price but not of interest to me.

They are generally running in the $1,000 range. I just bought a boxed three screw 8 3/8"er in about 98%+ condition for $1,086 shipped. I also bought a 99%+++ 6" 4 screw a while back, no box, for $1,200. Unfired. # K 444444. Yep, I paid a little extra for the serial number. Big Larry

I think the estimates above are pretty accurate. I paid about $850 for a two cylinder 6" that is not in as nice shape as you described. But box and docs. Paid around $1000 each for very condition 8 3/8 and 4" guns with boxes and all accessories. Second cylinder for the long tube.

If you pay a premium price make sure the box has the tapered swab and the red hang tag ! Jim's nice 4" for a $1000 with all of the stuff was a great deal !

I didn't think the early 4-screw guns had the red hang tag as it was only included after experiencing some problems. Is that not correct?

Dick:

You may be correct ! My early guns both had the tag but I do not know if they are original to the box or when they started including them ! Perhaps Roy will have an answer?
