Shes a beaut. I just went last fri to shoot my ar
When i left the range, i had a huge grin. Theres just a balance of fire power, accuracy, ergonomics, and overall aesthetics which i love about the ar. How you like your eotech? I got the 512. Im thinking about getting a riser from american defense.

I am wondering about the hand guard you are using on your M&P Sport. Is it the Magpul Carbine length or the Mid Length?

Thanks, Ron

Congratulations on your new Sport ChaneRZ! You won't be disappointed. The M&P 15's deliver the goods! I love that MOE stock and hand guard. I'm considering adding both to my Sport as well. I have a quad rail installed but don't care for the feel and additional weight. I did not get a high quality quad rail. I haven't found anyone who has an AR with the MOE hand guard so I can get my meat hooks on it to see if it fits me well.
Your Lil brother 15-22 looks outstanding too. A nice pair looking for a M&P .40 S&W cousin perhaps?

Have you had a chance to get out to shoot your Sport yet? A thorough cleaning is advised prior to 1st use. Buy plenty of ammo, post range reports, be careful and have fun.

I'm planning on shooting it on my day off. I just cleaned and lubed it. I also already bought 1000 rounds of american eagle 223 and federal 223 from walmart. Can't wait!

Magpul offers mil-spec and commercial-spec stock. I'm assuming the commercial-spec model is the one that fits the Sport? Which did you install?

You're literally going to have a blast shooting!!

The Walmart stores around here don't carry American Eagle. The .223 they stock is about 50 cents a round. If I buy 1k rounds of decent brass, I can get it elsewhere for 35 cents a round before tax (40 cents a round in smaller quantities). I don't often have 350 bucks laying around for ammo. I end up getting smaller quantities.

Slightly different dimensions of parts. "Mil"itary-"spec"ifications is just that. There are government guidelines as to how things are constucted as to make things compatible across the board, IIRC.

commercial spec is slightly wider than milspec buffers. commercial spec moe will fit both, a little loose fit on a milspec tube but it will work.

Sighted the Eotech at 50 yards

100 yards with Eotech

No FTF/FTE on my SW MP 15 Sport. Ate all 223 ammo very well.

True mil spec is the methodology of not only the materials used in a build, but the method by which each part is built. This goes DEEEEP.... temps for castings, heat treat method and time, amount of units tested per 100, and random test unit numbers. It also covers the type of testing for each part, whether it be an x ray, magnetic particle test, destructive test, etc.
This is why a 'True Mil Spec' rifle costs about $1600 minimum. Those tests are not cheap. And the extra steps that a builder like Daniel Defense or Colt put every part through adds tremendous cost. Also, for a true mil spec part, there is a paper trail and documentation for EVERYTHING; down to the foundry that sends over the billets of steel that become a barrel, to the origin and test on the type of oil the rifle is lubricated with. This is also why there are often lowers sold that are marked 'US Property' for a low price. They failed some kind of test in some way. And it does not mean every one failed, nor does it mean they are no good- they test one to 10 out of a hundred. If the number of fails is beyond acceptable guidelines, the WHOLE LOT is rejected. On jets, that means they go to the crusher or smelter. On rifles, they go to the surplus sale bin.
For domestic purposes, 'Mil Spec' means the parts match the size and basic material spec, without many of the tests and actual manufacturing process paths being taken. They look the same, they will fit the same/ are interchangeable, but they are not quite as stringent on the process of manufacturing.
