Well, this isn't a question for me, but for my Jail Commander. He has shattered the guts out of two scopes, a Burris and Bushnell on his 460. The first one lasted 4 rounds, the second set the record at 10 rounds before it actually blew the glass out of the front of the scope...
What do you 460 shooters use...

Smith & Wesson recommends that only quality steel bases and rings be used, and highly touts those manufactured by Warne. In fact, both can be purchased directly from the company. When mounting the base and rings, Loc-Tite is absolutely necessary for prevention of screws backing out under the .460 S&W Mag.’s stout recoil.
When choosing an optic, select only quality scopes designed for, and tested on, big-bore handguns. Bargain-priced scopes will not hold up to the stress imposed by this cartridge! The top choices are Leupold’s FXII (fixed-power) and VXIII (variable-power) handgun scopes, as well as those in Bushnell’s Elite 3200 line. If possible, opt for a matte finish, as those with a gloss finish tend to move more readily from recoil. A third ring can help prevent this, and is recommended. While I’ve yet to try them, a red-dot optic should make for a nice addition, given sufficient quality.

I've heard Ultra-Dot's are nice for high recoil handguns, but I can't say for sure. Could be a cheapo. I know Ronnie Barrett puts Bushnell 3200's on his .50BMG's from his factory (if wanted). His shop is about 30 minutes from me but I still haven't been inside it....

He has factory rings, and IIRC he has them locktited.....
I will forward that to him.....

I have a Nikon Monarch 2x on my Ruger SBH. About 100 rounds no problems.

p.s. It's a 454 Casull.

For a hunting revolver I really like the 30mm UltraDot. I have set up 2 Super RedHawks so far with them. I also have a 1" UltraDot. The 30mm is the way to go. Way more field of view.

In a scope a Leupold fixed power would me my next choice, with three rings. I run 3 rings on all my contender barrels. I have older US made Burris 2-7's on them. Not sure if the newer ones will take a beating like the old ones.

I've got a Burris 1.5x4 posi lock on my PC 460 but I don't have many rounds through it at this point.

My 10-1/2" 460 has a Burris 3x-12x with four rings and my 500's have fixed power Leupold's with three and four rings. None of them have failed me yet. I use as many rings as possible to lessen the torque on the scope tube.

i have had very good luck with older burris handgun scopes, but if i had a 460, it would have a leupold fixed power on it. i have leupolds on everything from .22 to .338 lapua, and i have never had a hint of a problem with any of them.

I had a Burris 2x7 on Burris steel mount and steel rings. The mount was locktited to the gun. No locktite on the rings ever. After a couple of hundred rounds no worries. The scope did not loose zero.

I have a 5" 460 and believe it or not, have a Tasco Pro Point mounted to it! I put 30 rounds thru it last weekend, and it held up beautifully-don't know for how long though , as I was skeptical, but the scope itself is about 18 yrs old, so if it goes I'm not out much. I prefer the red dot for hunting, as it helps me sight quicker.
