If it has an S prefix then I would say late 1958 or early 1959. Are you sure that's the correct serial? No model number?

Does it have a ramp front sight? You do know I have been looking for a 6.5" with a ramp sight for about 15 years.

Seeking a ramp sight gun. Red insert is immaterial (not looking for it, wouldn't reject it). I never mentioned "red ramp."

For some reason I thought you called it a pre-model gun. Must have confusing your post with another I read. M27 would be correct. Yes, they were made about 3 years. I have S199,500 shipped 5/19/60.

By no speedloader cut-out do you mean the target style stocks? The relieved style appear around 1956 or 57 I think. Unless special ordered your gun came with the Magnas. The Magna stocks never had any relief.

You are so right. That is one nice piece of machinery. Can't get enough of those model 27s.

rick,
thanks buddy.your an asset to this forum, and the gun community
i will email ya rick.owl, thanks friend.i know there are older, more valueable guns out there, especially smith wessons.but for some reason this gun is just sweet.the guy at the gun show said it had been in a drawer for years.what i could not believe was that it laid on a gun show table for a day before i came along.there was a forum member who i have dealt with in the past, set up right across from us.couldnt believe it.never had met the guy face to face, but he sure is a gentleman.we had a nice chat several times, about this gun,and his guns
anyway.i wish i could meet half the guys on here,i have talked to.as every one has been just super

Hey Steve,
We'll all be expecting a new batch of pictures once those "Canadian" grips arrive.
