Default Classic Cars

Hey,

So I saw my last thread derail into a car discussion so I figure we need to bring up a classic car thread. So what is your Favorite old car and do you have one?

Here is my 1970 Chevy Nova with 62,427.5 original miles. Needless to say's it's my favorite. Purchased it as my first car just before my 16th birthday. Have had her for over 15 years now. She is the reason for my username as well, as you can see by the license plate.

Most of her is original. She has had some body work, rear quarters replaced. Has an entire new front suspension & rear suspension, Koni adjustable shocks all around, multi-leaf rear springs with Cal-trac adjustable traction bars, 12 bolt posi rear-end (4.10's) from a 69 Camaro (still have the original). Has bucket seats out of a 66 Nova (still have the original bench), original AM radio replaced with Kenwood tape deck--which also controls 6 disc changer, new front speakers & rear speakers are mounted below dash so as not to change the original look. When I can afford to get her out of storage in the garage again, am looking to replace the original 307 and powerglide with a crate 350 and Tremec TKO 5 speed.

Either an Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce, from about 1965, or any of the Bertone-bodied coupes from a few years later, preferably 1750 or 2000 cc. No, I don't have either any more.

Sadly, I sold this '65 Stingray hardtop years ago. Wish I could afford to re-buy it today!

Probly a 1955 Chevy BelAir. But, I don't have one.

I do have one of these - She'll do until I get tired of her and need another project.

I've had my '70 Mach 1 since May of 1982. It was an original R-code 428 CJ with A/C but had a 390 in it when I bought it. I stuffed a bored and stroked 427 sideoiler (454 cid) in it and went drag racing for a few years. It has the factory shaker hood, front and rear spoilers, C-6 automatic (full manual valve body, reverse pattern), 4.11 Traction-Lok 31-spline 9" rear end, and a fold down rear seat. It showed 42,000 miles when I bought it and it now shows 49,000.

In addition to Colt and S&W revolvers, one of my other passions.

Had this 330 GTS for more than 30 years. Still my all time favorite car

Since I'm basically a Ford guy, it pains me to say this, but.....If I had my choice of classic muscle cars it would be a '67 GTO.

Mine would be an AC Cobra all the way, but with the value of an original that's not gonna happen! Maybe someday I'll build a kit.

Mmmmmaybe a few of them were! You should have held on the the boss! I had the opportunity to buy one for $4500 back in '82 or '83 and I'm still kicking myself for not doing so.

Not mine, but I had one identical to it except for the rims. (Had Cragar SSTs on it). Had a girl doing about 50 make a left turn right in front of me while I was doing 40 MPH and put me into a truck on my left side. Totalled. Only thing worth saving was the rims and the gas cap.

Mine was a 1966 Olds 442 - every once in awhile I go online looking for one to buy but I can't seem to locate one - and if I did, I probably couldn't afford to buy it! But I have other interests now anyway - been there and done that so it's time to go on to something new.

My Brother in law recently purchased a red '69 Mach 1 w/ 428CJ, it needs some work to be road worthy, but still a cool car. I'm hoping that he will sell it to a friend of mine that would do it right.

I had '64 Chevy II, wish I could have afforded to keep it.

If there's one thing I enjoy more than guns, it's cars.

my truck

It's a '58 Chevy 1/2 ton I helped my kid brother build before he passed away. Our folks felt I should have it when his estate was settled. Chris and I spent a lot of quality time together during the build and hanging out at car shows and cruise nights after it was finished. I will always be thankful for the memories and every time I walk out to the garage it makes me think of my Bro...

It's powered by a mild 454 with a TH400 and has a Mopar 8.75 rear. We swapped in a Nova front subframe so it has independant front suspension, power steering and disc brakes.

my car...

1969 Plymouth GTX with the matching numbers 440, Torqueflite transmission and 4.10 sure grip differential. I restored it in my free time over a 12 year period and have had it on the road for 11 years now. It still goes pretty good, we dynoed it a few weeks ago and it's putting 368 horses to the rear wheels...

I restored a 1973 Jensen Healey that was featured on Autoweek. Kind of cool being on TV with your car.

Here's mine. Currently it has about 235,000 miles on it. Yeah, you can say I like this care a lot, bought it brand new and repainted it in 1999. BTW, it's not stock under the hood but that 200 R4 and the 7 1/5 inch rear end limit what I can do in terms of power. Personally, I find 340 HP to be perfectly adequate and it does get me 22 mpg at 75 mph.

Another vote for the Cobra (289, please--they won all the races). I've always like the 69-72 Vettes as well.

I've always been a fan of the old Euro sports cars and never been into the straight line American muscle, I guess it comes from my father's sports car racing days. My dream car would be a 250 GTO

My favorite muscle cars are;

1968 Chevelle S/S 396 / 375HP. 4spd w/ 456's posi in the pumkin.

1968 Nova S/S 396 / 375hp w/400 auto w/ 410's posi in the pumkin.

1966 or 1967 I believe Chevy offered an Impala with a 396/425hp these were very rare from the factory. These ran in the 11's in the quarter mile right from the factory. My buddy had one, he had to order it special.

My other loves were the mopar 413cu.in, 440cu.in wedge motors. another flying machine. The old plymouths with the dual quad 413 engines and the 392 hemi's.

Then the 63 and 64 S/S impala's with the 425hp 409 dual quad.

Then they think the new cars are muscle cars today ya right....

I'm droolin on my key board....... Bill

It wasn’t a classic when I had it, but my 1960 Porsche 356 S/c would qualify today; if some fool driving a Rambler sedan, with bad breaks, hadn’t pushed the back end in by 12 or so inches I would still have that Porsche.

Probably a toss up between a 1948 MG TC and a 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6, but I wouldn't turn down a 1960 Jaguar 150S either.

I don't have one, but ever since I stumbled across this picture on the interwebs I've kept a little place in my heart for it. It's a 1967 Plymouth GTX, 426 Hemi, with the police handling package.

I had a '67 GTX when I was 17, not a Hemi, it had the 440 Super Commando. These are old pics my friend took back in the day and saved.

My father had a 68 4/4, no it was not fast but it was quick. The aluminum bodies and ash frames give them a great power to weight ratio. That little 4 banger Morgan could keep up with just about anything on the road until you hit 60 mph. Dad had no problems beating Corvettes of that era on a road course. They could overtake him in the straights but he would smoke them in the corners. One cool thing was you could just reach out the window and snuff out your cigarette butt on the asphalt.

For those who don't know..... This is a Morgan.

1961 Ford Starliner

1964 Ford Galaxy

1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt

The above with 427 cammers of course.

Now, if money was no object I would have one of each, along with a sample or two of Mr. Shelby's vintage creations.

Jimmy, that 9 passenger wagon wouldn't have happened to be a Pontiac Safari would it? I ask because one night in about 1971 I had one come in for an oil change when I was working as a pump jockey. I believe it was a 65. The reason I still remember it was that it was ordered from the factory with a 421 Tri Power.

My Classic was my first. A 1929 Chrysler 75 Royal Sedan. If I did this right there will be a photo of it here.

I purchased this car in 1963 when I was 16 years old. I was my first car. I dare say it was beautiful in my eyes but it didn't look like it does in the above photo.

I sold it off in about 1965 and then bought it back in 1969. I kept it until about 1979 and sold it again. It now belongs to the second owner since me and he is the one who has done all the restoration work on my first automotive love. The photo was from a local car show this past September.

The Chrysler was the first of many cars I couldn't live with out. A few were; 1958 MGA roadster, 1955 Jaguar XK140-MC Fixed Head Coupe, 1964 Pontiac LeMans GTO wannbe, 1955 Jaguar MK 1 2.4L Sedan, 1960 Jaguar XK150 3.4L Drop Head Coupe and the list goes on.

I want either a Ford Shelby Cobra 500 Mustang or a Shelby Cobra replica. I have no allegiance to Ford, but ither one of those would be easier to find than the Ferrari 275GTB 4-cam I REALLY want.
