Default test-fire of 340 M&P

Hey All,
Finally got a moment to test-fire and function check my new No Lock 340 M&P.

This is NOT a range session...just me firing off a few dozen rounds to make sure that this beauty functions correctly.

I started with some 158 gr .38 special: predictably fun and very controllable.

Next up was some 130gr .38+P from Winchester PDX bonded.
This ammo was lively out of the lightweight 340, but very quick to get back on target.

Last up was some Speer Gold Dot (short barrel) in 135 gr .357 magnum: This was not the monster that I had been led to believe (reading too many gun forums ), but rather, was a sharp recoil but quick to get back on target.

I would feel confident carrying the .357 for concealed carry, but would not like to have any extended range sessions with it!

I am probably going to carry it loaded with Buffalo Bore 158gr .38+P LSWCHP...which I did not fire today, but have some back in the safe.

Overall, this lightweight j-frame handled .357 much better than I had been led to believe...like I said, not for extended range sessions...but will allow for enough practice time to maintain proficiency.
(then I whipped out my 66 snub and remembered what a NICE trigger felt like...)

More complete review will follow, as soon as I get time for a real range session.

Sounds like you have a keeper.

I have a 340 M&P spotted. I have been thinking about trading the 638 in on it. I really like my 638, but I think I will like the 340 M&P better. It will be my luck that it will be gone next week when I get a chance to get back to the Gun Store.

Enjoy

Bob
