I really shouldn't have
I was in the LGS yesterday looking for some ammo (I Swear) and something shiny caught my attention out the corner of my eye. It was a very neglected
specimen if I had ever seen one. The finish was very dull from having been stored in a holster. It was also wearing a rubber monogrip. When I opened the action, it was so full of crud, it would hardly function. After some high level negotiations, I walked out with it for $399.23. The rest of the afternoon was spent applying elbow grease and playing grip rodeo. Took me 3 or 4 hours to get it cleaned up and functioning properly but I think it was worth it. I've walked away from deals thinking that I'd payed way too much for something I've really wanted in the past. Every now and then though I walk into something when I least expect it. That's why I keep looking I guess. What do you all think?

Wow...I think you got a great deal. The grips compliment the nickel finish. Well done.

And that is a homerun if I ever saw one! Congrats!
The only thing it really needs is some time down in Texas! Send her to me and I'll take care of it.

I think the dealer paid you $100 an hour to clean it.

That is a steal @ $400. I'd take 'em all day at that price.
Enjoy it! Your effort should really pay off.

Congrats on the purchase and it cleaned up really well. Like others have said I think you stole it or got paid well for your time cleaning it.

Come to think of it, that's the second nice nickel revolver I've gotten a deal on at that shop. I got the 6" Model 57 there about a year ago at a pretty good price as well.

It doesn't happen all that often, the great felling you get when you spot that firearm diamond in the rough and turn it into a gem! Nice score and good job on the clean-up. Time to take it to the range.

I used Mother's Mag Polish very sparingly. I've never tried any of the other recommended brands, but so far, I've had good luck with Mother's.
