Gun Show Find This Weekend.....
So I am at my table at the gun show, and I'm thinking, "Please don't let me see any nice guns this weekend."
Sunday, a man stops at my table to look at my holsters, and I see he is carrying a two piece blue box.
I tried to look away, but I was drawn to it like a moth to a flame.
Before I could even think, the words came out of my mouth.
"What do you have there, and are you selling it?"
I knew from the size of the box it must be a J Frame, probably a Model 36.
I was right. It was a 2" round butt Model 36 no dash pinned barrel, with original wood stocks, in LNIB condition. The serial number puts its DOB at 1981.
It had maybe the faintest turn ring that you had to strain your eyes to see.
It also had all the papers with it, including the warranty card, the manual with the actual model number on it, and all the other stuff it comes with, except the tools.
I'm thinking to myself, "Nice gun, I would love to have that one...but you already have a Model 36 3" and a bunch of other 2" J Frames."
Then all of a sudden, I blurted out, "How much do you want for it?"
He replied, $300.00
I said I would give him $250.00.
We settled on $275.00.
I've got to get off this Forum. This is the 13th gun I have purchased since joining in April.
Is there an end to the sickness?
HELP!!!!!

Nope...no end in sight, you might as well resign yourself to the sickness. Just wait until the N-frame bug catches up to you.

SIGH....I already have the N Frame bug. Model 28s, 27s, 625s....need I go on?
I guess it is just easier to give in.

Only 13? Well, you've still got time to get caught up. That
M36 sounds nice. Good job! TACC1

You need to buy a couple of ugly cheap guns.
And when the sickness gets too great..take them out and
shoot the ugly guns. This makes you appreciate the Smiths
you have more.
....I think

No, the 36 was made from 1957 to 1988, replaced by the -2.

Best ways not to purchase Smith and Wessons:
1. Stay out of Gun Shows and Gun Shops.
2. Always be broke.

Correct. Model 36s with 2 " & slim 3" barrels didn't get a dash number (-2) 'till '88 (new yoke retention). 36-1s (heavy 3" barrel came along in 1967.

Stu, I too, have the problem, but not as severe as yourself. Since joining the forum in July I have purchased 7 S&W revolvers - J, K and L frames. Mine are all shooters - really nice shooters. Must be something in this Florida water. Continued good hunting to you!

I really didn't have "extra cash" to buy a gun this weekend, that is why I was praying not to see any nice guns.
It was just the condition of the gun, box, and papers (it even had the wax paper) that I couldn't let it pass me by.
