Default Question regarding the perfected 3 model

One for sale at local Cabela's. It comes with a box that is metal covered with brown leather. Box includes a cutout for the single shot and cleaning rod.
Is the box original?

Is there a gun in the box or is it just the box? Are we talking about the Perfected DA Single Shot?

I do not recall a metal box. Could it be another material covered with leather?

Most of the original boxed cases for these used a Chamois liner. Is this one cloth or Chamois interior?

It doesn't sound like it is original. Many of these single shot pistols were cased, etc. by their owners to personalize the gun as wanted by the owner. S&W's only factory metal case for an antique or C&R gun, is the case for the 4th Model Straightline. Having said that, a nice after market owner made case for a 3rd model does not hurt the value of the package, assuming Cabela's is not trying to pass off an after market case as factory original. Few Cabela's have staff that are gun savy, so be aware that guns in their stores should be approached with "Buy the gun, not the story" attitude! Ed.

Thanks for the help...It is a metal box covered with leather and I do not believe it is for the revolver. I'll check tomorrow to see what the lining looks like.
