Default Price and date check Mod 27-2, 8" barrel

LGS has this gorgeous mod 27-2 on offer, serial number N372XXX, 8" barrel. Right under the serial number is stamped N00. 27-2. What does the N00 mean? (I hope not "noo don't buy me!"

Price seems a bit steep, if not for the gun than at least for my budget, at 750 EUR (960 bucks). What would expect this gun to be priced Stateside?

I will shoot the gun, often, but also hope for some collector value out of the deal. See also my previous thread on the Mod 19, which is my other (and more affordable!) option.

Thanks to all

It probably shipped from the factory in 1976. The "NOO" is actually "MOD" (short for "Model", as in 27-2). Over here the longer barreled guns seem to go for less than the shorter ones. $960 US would be in line for a 3.5" gun here, but an 8 3/8" would be more along the lines of $700-750 if it is new in box. Good luck with your dilemma!

The barrel doesn't look pinned. Transition model?

The P&R 27-2 8 3/8 inch models hold there value around here as people wanting a collection of 27-2's need and want them so the price is still fairly high and certainly higher then on the 6 inch version.

Here in Southern Maine I've seen two 8 3/8" Blue 27-2's for sale so far this winter. One privately, the other in a shop. Both were fired, but in excellent shape and had presentation cases.

The private sale gun had an unrealistic "start me high" asking price of $1000. There was much haggling and the seller dragged the gun around with him for quite some time... When it finally sold, it went for $675.

The gun that was in the shop was a consignment. The seller was asking $800. The gun never sold and the consignor finally took it back home with him.

I bought nickle 8 3/8" as new in the case 27-2 not long ago for $375. So between these two extremes is the local value of these guns around here...
