Default K22 Masterpiec?

I have a K22 that has mis-matched 5 digit serial numbers. I have known the where abouts of this firearm since 1953 when I first learned to shoot. Is this a factory assembly of whatever parts were available or is it possible someone modified it? Is the best route an inquiry through the historian?

If you will post pics of the numbers, someone here will likely solve the mystery for you. Sounds like you may be confusing the serial number with the assembly numbers in the crane.

Pics would help us help you. The serial # is on the bottom of the grip frame, preceded by K. The same # with or without the k should be on the rear face of the cylinder, on the bbl flat above the ejector rod, and on the ejector and yoke. some are hard to get to.

There are assembly #'s also that match each other, but not match the serial #. Again, pics of all these areas will nail down what you have.

By definition, the gun's serial number is the number stamped on the frame -- in this case on the butt of the gun with a K prefix. If numbers on the other parts mentioned by crsides are different, then parts have been replaced. The factory would not have done this, and the historian would be able to tell you only the date and destination of the frame of the gun -- not what happened to it later in life.

Not to beat a drum too often, but pics would really help if you can post any.

Welcome to the forum! We like to help.

Even w/o pics, If you could give us the numbers and the locations you got them from, we might be able to verify it's originality. But we really like pics and can tell you much more about the gun; it's vintage, condition, scarcity, early and late features, etc.
