Default Lower reciever crayon removal?

Hey guys i just joined the forum, long time lurker. I recently just ordered my 15-22 some new parts and they arent gonna like right with my white crayon on it. Whats the best way to get this off? Its been on for months and now its time for it to go ( by the way, didnt realize how good it would stay on!)

I left mine on, looks cool... but it is nice to know that a tooth pic and WD-40 is all that is needed to remove it. I won't do this to my AR15s, that is why they are called, the "Black Rifle".... bad to the bone.

There's allot easier way guys!!!!!

Rem Oil and a toothbrush. Works great, little effort. It'll also remove the factory lettering color. Use a q-tip and spread rem oil over the crayola. Let it soak for a few minutes and scrub it out with a toothbrush.

used a sharp scribe and rem oil with a rag.
sat down with an episode of sons of guns and before episode was over had the old out and was ready for new color. good thing there was another episode after, new color was in and cleaned by end of that episode.

I just did this earlier today, removed the crayon from the slide on my XD9 since I am trading it with a local for their Beretta 92FS. I used a toothpick to remove the bulk of the crayon, but there was still a lot left behind that the toothpick would not grab. I soaked the corner of a white rag in WD40 and rubbed the area pretty vigorously, took what was left right off in under 15 seconds. I would suggest that if you use a solvent instead of WD40 that you make sure that it will not damage the polymer of the receiver first.

The crayon is not holding up like I thought it would, so one day that I am stuck inside because of bad weather, I'm going to remove it and re-do with acrylic paint.

Sight marking paint works real good and you get a choice of 4 or 5 dayglow colors plus white.

Easiest way to remove crayon I found is heat it up with a lighter. Short durations so no damage is done to the plastic. Once wax melts wipe it out with microfiber cloth. Shouldn't even take a minute to do. My 2 cents.

hold off on that, i'm getting some lacquer sticks (red and white), I'm sure there will be plenty there to do a ton of rifles.
