Default Sigma .40 with ported barrel :)

hello,

I'm new here and wanted to share my sigma and show the mod we've done to it, along with the trigger mod
my sigma (with my Remora Holster)

my daily carry:

I've been thinking of porting mine, with magna-port. Still on the fence about it.

Have you shot it at Night? Seems that much porting out the top will be blinding.

Sweet! When you say "daily carry" do you mean concealed? Or are you an LEO and carry this as your duty weapon? Saw the restraints and was just wondering. She sure looks nice brother.

My apologies Ms. Marie! Does the porting tame the recoil pretty well? I'm not interested in porting mine but my wife doesn't like the 40 recoil. She has a .380 for the mean time.

well, I think it is all a personal preference as well as experience and practice, but it did make a difference, yes.
We own a custom firearms store, specialized in ARs, so I get the chance to shoot everything we get here from .22 to .308 and everything in between
I've personally owned all calibers other than .357 and I think my LRC kicked more loaded with +P 155 grains than my Sigma does
have you tried a grip sleeve? a Hogue or Pachmyer will help some with the recoil, and it really does give you a better "grip" literally...LOL

Yes, I have a Hogue slipped over my grip and love the feel. My wife is just tiny and doesn't dig the kick of the .40 S&W. Like I said she has a .380 now but I'd like to move her up to a 9mm at the very least.

I will assume you mean porting the barrel?
Ported barrels do what they say they do - reduce recoil and muzzle flip.
allowing you quicker back to back shots while staying on target.
personally, I was a lot more accurate once the mod was done.
I don't have a previous target from when I shot it 1st, but this was the second time ever shooting the Sigma, after porting the barrel.
the 2 first shots were just test ones, purposely off on the side.
(15 yards target)

Nice looking gun. I have seen a few different ported sigmas on the net and was wondering how you went about doing it. Is it done at home or at a machine shop?

Does this not change the ballistics of the ammunition? Muzzle velocity, energy, would be lost somewhat, correct?

We own a custom firearm store specialized in AR-15, My husband is a FFL class 7 manufacturer so has a CNC lathe to make his own barrels, a mill etc...a full machine shop so he did the work himself on it

I read the forum rules and I don't think I can post our website on here

Is still think you should go fire that thing at night. I have a feeling there is going to be a large amount of flash directly in your sights. That is just the down fall of a porting. I wouldn't want to be in a situation of taking a shot and being temporarily blinded and somebody getting the drop on me. Just my thoughts.

Anyway your Husband did a good job and the porting is different, in a good way.

This will drop velocity some but provide the benefit of reduced muzzle rise.

Have you chronographed loads from that, AFTER the porting? it would be interesting to know just how much it does affect the ballistics.

Looks like the old LWD or Dragon barrel. You know before they quit making parts for low buck guns.

I like that one better:

and this one is pretty sweet too:

Storm Lake 4 port barrel for a Glock G35 40 cal. model 43057
The 4 ports fit in the cut out of the slide on a G35 and will reduce the felt recoil substantially. This barrel is the same length as a stock barrel.

I like the 2 rows one this one, cool look!

Oh, dang it. I never heard of the PPQ until you posted. Now I'm pondering it over the M&P after reading a ton of good reviews. How do you like it?

I love it, I had a Walther PK380 not too long ago, and the feel is very similar in your hand.

I do not want to compare it to the Sigma because they are not in the same price range and that wouldn't be fair.

I like the way it looks more than an M&P, but this is a really personal opinion. the PPQ is a striker as well, hammerless, no manual safety and the trigger is said the be one with the less reset; it’s 1/10th inch reset. Tons of good reviews online as well as on youtube.

I ran to the range quickly yesterday to go try it out, it was windy and the stapler ran out of staples and my last 3 targets were flying off the board when I was shooting so...
the 1st targets I did with it, at 15yrd...and the papers are about 6"x4", I put the last 3 together on one piece of paper afterwards.
