Default M&P45 Magazine choices

I have a full sized M&P 45 that came with it's two 10 round magazines, I'm going to buy 3 more and was thinking two more 10s for the belt and one 14 round to keep in the pistol while holstered in the M12. I went to 44MAG.com - Smith & Wesson because you guys here have good things to say about them. When I get to the website to place my order the 14 round magazines are the same price as the ten round magazines. Any reason why I should not just buy 3 14 round magazines?

Nope. The 14's are long, but they should be since they hold more rounds. I generally keep a 10 round mag in the gun when it's in a holster, but all my spares are 14 rounders with 10-8 Precisions base pads (extended).

I got my 14 rounder from 44MAG.COM yesterday and I picked up my new (six weeks old, test fired 1/19/2012) today after work. I must say it does look strange in the weapon cause it makes the grip look really long but for what ever purpose the range or as a backup it works in the pistol great and it is made by Smith and Wesson so I think I will get a couple more before the word gets out and they run low like I have seen happen in the past!

Kewl Beens, I went and placed the order for 3 of the 14 round magazines. Now I just need to find a magazine pouch that can hold both the standard and the extended magazines. Preferably one that holds four magazines on a 2.5 inch Military pistol belt. I don't believe the Bianchi 1030 will take the longer magazines.

I just stuck the extended mag into a Black Hawk double mag plastic pouch and the retention is great although it is a bit long will do pix later but gotta be at work at 6:30 tomorrow and am tired right now!

The gun looks really weird with the 14 round mag in it, but you will like it I think!

I don't know if they will fit on the military belt, but I use the Bianchi Triple Threat mag pouches (7320 Nylon and 7922 Accumold).

I bought a couple of them, but for only four extra rounds, I wasn't all that impressed. Mine usually go in pouches on a tactical vest, which I rarely wear anymore. I'd like to get rid of the grip extenders, but thought the 10-8 replacement was a bit pricy for something that I really don't care for. I have, however, found that they're good for shooting prone when I want to rest the basepad on the ground, and have not experienced any malfunctions that way. Otherwise, its easier for me to just carry one or two exta 10-rounders during daily carry. The things are big enough and heavy enough to use as an impact weapon in the event deadly force is not required, but I wouldn't recommend the practice.
